The Allen-Bradley 1336-MOD-KB050 is a Dynamic Braking Unit designed for use with specific adjustable Frequency AC Drives like the 1336/1336VT FORCE, PLUS, PLUS II, and IMPACT, with drive ratings between B040 and B060. This unit includes braking resistors that automatically connect and disconnect from the DC bus, facilitating rapid motor braking and preventing bus overvoltage by dissipating excess power as heat. It continuously monitors the DC bus voltage, activating to dissipate power when a sharp voltage increase is detected and deactivating when voltage normalizes. It operates at 380VAC, 415VAC, or 460VAC and features a NEMA Type 1 (IP20) enclosure, a brake ON indicator light, and a DC Power light that activates upon a 40 VDC increase in bus voltage.

The 1336-MOD-KB050 measures 16 x 24 x 9.75 inches, weighs 33.8 kg (75 lbs.), and suits 1336 series adjustable frequency drives. It is rated at 50 HP with a 3750 W power capacity. The braking resistor has a 10.5 Ω resistance and can dissipate 7000 W. Equipped with built-in fans, the unit should not be installed in environments with hazardous dust, gas, or vapor. It provides 100% braking torque for 20 seconds and 20% torque during typical duty cycles. Suitable for altitudes up to 1000 meters without derating, it operates in temperatures ranging from -10°C to 50°C and 5 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity. The fan input power is 600 mA, and the enable signal requires 50 mA.
