The Allen-Bradley 2198-CAPMOD-1300 capacitor module is a critical component of the Kinetix 5500 series, providing up to 1360 microfarads of added capacitance for systems that encounter exceedance in internal shunt capacity. This module is designed to enhance the functionality of applications with high regenerative energy, working either independently or paired with an external shunt module from the 2097 line. While compatible with drive configurations sharing DC power within the shared-bus system, it is not suitable for AC-only connections. Its installation in a “Zero Stacking” configuration ensures optimal connector spacing and integration into shared-bus systems, matching the precise dimensions and clearance requirements of frame 2 drives at 10.43 x 8.27 x 2.16 inches. Compatible with both 200 Volts and 400 Volts class drive systems, the module requires grounding via 12 AWG copper wire or a braided ground strap to a bonded cabinet ground bus.
