The Allen-Bradley 150-C3NBD is an SMC-3 smart motor controller designed for managing the starting and stopping of line-connected, 3-phase motors. With a coil voltage range of 100 to 240 Volts AC and a voltage rating of 200 to 460 Volts AC, it supports an amperage of 3 A and frequency of 50/60 Hz. The motor controller, which measures 1.77 x 5.5 x 4.38 inches and has an open-type enclosure, can operate within temperatures from -5 to 50 degrees Celsius and be stored between -25 to 85 degrees Celsius. It functions effectively in non-condensing relative humidity of 5% to 95% and at altitudes up to 2000 meters.
The 150-C3NBD offers five operational modes: coast-to-rest, soft start, soft stop, current limit start, and kick start. It comes with built-in protections including electronic motor overload, over-temperature, SCR/Run bypass, and phase reversal. The device automatically checks for unit load connections and shorts before every start, aborting the process if issues are detected to prevent motor damage. It also has measures to avoid single-phase conditions and phase imbalance.
This controller is suitable for applications such as pumps, chillers, mixers, conveyors, lifts, and fans. It features a run/fault LED status indicator, DIP switches for easy configuration, a rotary switch for motor FLA setup, and a reset button for quick tests. Additionally, it provides configurable parameters for various start and stop times, initial torque levels, current limits, kick-start durations, and overload trip classes.
The 150-C3NBD is rated for 200-480 Volts AC operation per UL/CSA and NEMA standards, with variations for IEC compliance. It has a rated insulation voltage of 600 Volts AC (500 Volts AC for IEC) and a rated impulse voltage of 6 kV. This solid-state motor starter also features 1000 V/µs DV/DT protection and has an overvoltage category III rating. It supports direct mounting to an enclosure subpanel for easy installation.
